Authorised Representative Network
Build your insurance broking business with Wesure.
Wesure is building an Authorised Representative network for experienced insurance professionals and people with established commercial client relationships who want to build a long-term insurance broking business.

Operate within the Wesure framework
Once approved and formally appointed, an Authorised Representative operates within Wesure's AFSL and written authority, in line with Wesure's compliance framework and business requirements.
AFSL and authority
Insurers and underwriting access
Broking systems
Compliance support
More than an AFSL number
An Authorised Representative acts on behalf of an Australian Financial Services Licensee to provide the financial services specified in the authority granted by that licensee.
For Wesure, an AR appointment is not a licence-only arrangement.
Every appointment must be supported by appropriate competence, clearly defined authority, approved systems and processes, access to claims support, and ongoing supervision.
For an AR, this provides a structured environment in which to develop a broking business. For Wesure, each appointment also forms part of our regulatory and reputational responsibility.
Who we are looking to work with
Wesure places greater weight on professional judgement, an established client base and the ability to build long-term client relationships. Sales capability matters, but it is not the only factor we consider.
- experienced general insurance brokers who want to develop their own client portfolio;
- insurance professionals looking to move into a more entrepreneurial broking role;
- people with established commercial or industry networks who have relevant insurance experience, or who are prepared to meet the required training and competence standards before being authorised;
- multilingual professionals with strong relationships in particular industries or business communities;
- established businesses looking to build or expand a broking practice as part of the Wesure network; and
- people who value professional judgement, sound client service and disciplined compliance.
We look beyond the size of a prospective partner's existing business. What matters more is the ability to serve clients consistently and build a broking business over the long term within shared professional and compliance standards.
Build your own business. Work to shared standards.
Wesure wants ARs to develop genuine client relationships and a sustainable book of business.
That independence of business development sits within a common professional and compliance framework.
ARs are expected to:
- act strictly within their written authority;
- comply with applicable financial services laws and Wesure policies;
- maintain required knowledge, training and competence;
- use approved systems and documentation;
- maintain complete and accurate client and business records;
- provide insurers with accurate risk information;
- identify and manage conflicts appropriately;
- escalate complaints, incidents and compliance matters as required;
- cooperate with ongoing supervision and file reviews; and
- deal with clients fairly and professionally.
The specific obligations, authority and commercial arrangements are documented before appointment.
Different backgrounds require different preparation
Not every suitable candidate arrives with the same experience.
An experienced broker may primarily need a new operating framework, systems and access to markets.
Someone with strong commercial relationships may first need to complete additional insurance training and develop the competence required for the proposed role.
A specialist broker may need to broaden their knowledge before taking responsibility for other classes of general insurance.
Wesure assesses candidates individually.
Where further training, mentoring, product accreditation or systems preparation is required, it must be completed before the candidate provides the relevant financial services.
Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee appointment.
How the process works
- Initial discussion — We learn about your professional background, insurance experience, existing client relationships or commercial network, and the business you want to build.
- Assessment and due diligence — We consider experience, competence, proposed business model, reputation, client sources, potential conflicts and whether the proposed activities fit within Wesure's AFSL and operating framework.
- Training and readiness — Any required training, product accreditation, systems onboarding and compliance preparation is completed.
- Commercial and authorisation terms — The commercial arrangement, responsibilities, approved activities and scope of authority are documented.
- Formal appointment — If Wesure decides to proceed, the AR is formally appointed and the applicable regulatory notifications and registrations are completed.
- Ongoing business and supervision — Following onboarding, the AR can focus on client development, placement, renewals and service within the agreed authority, with ongoing monitoring and review.
What the Wesure AR model is not
- an AFSL rental arrangement;
- a passive licence with no supervision;
- authority to provide services outside the agreed scope;
- a pathway to commence insurance broking without meeting applicable training and competence requirements;
- guaranteed access to every insurer or underwriting agency;
- a guarantee of leads, income or business volume;
- an offer of employment; or
- a franchise arrangement.
We are focused on building a sustainable network, not simply increasing the number of representatives.
Commercial arrangements
Commercial terms are agreed individually. Relevant factors may include:
- experience and qualifications;
- an existing client portfolio or commercial network;
- proposed business mix;
- level of technical, administrative and compliance support required;
- systems and servicing responsibilities;
- supervision requirements; and
- the agreed revenue-sharing model.
This page does not promise a particular commission split, income level, volume of leads or business outcome.
Any commercial arrangement is documented before appointment.
What matters to us
Good broking is not only about obtaining an insurance policy.
It requires understanding how a client operates, presenting the risk accurately to insurers, explaining important issues clearly, keeping appropriate records and continuing to support the client when a claim occurs.
These are the standards we want the Wesure network to share.
If you have insurance experience, an established commercial client base or a clear plan for developing a general insurance broking business, we would be interested in hearing from you.
Thank you for your interest in Wesure.
We've received your Expression of Interest. We review enquiries individually and will contact you if we would like to discuss the opportunity further.
Submitting an Expression of Interest does not constitute an appointment, offer or authority to provide financial services.
Appointment as an Authorised Representative is subject to Wesure's assessment, due diligence, training and competence requirements, commercial agreement, written authority, applicable regulatory requirements and ongoing supervision.
An AR may only provide the financial services specified in the written authority granted by Wesure and must operate in accordance with applicable law, Wesure policies and the terms of the appointment.
Nothing on this page constitutes an offer of employment, partnership, franchise, guaranteed appointment, guaranteed income or guaranteed access to any particular insurer, underwriting agency or insurance product.
